Abstract (EN)

In this study, a solar assisted air source heat pump system (SAASHP) called as hybrid system created by adding solar energy system to an air source heat pump (ASHP) for cooling, heating and hot water needs of a restaurant in Istanbul was designed. Both systems were simulated with the help of the TRNSYS (time dependent system simulation) program and the performance and annual energy consumption of the systems were examined and compared. The temperature of the area was kept constant at 22℃ during winter and at 24℃ during summer. During the whole year, 300 liter/h of water was used four times a day (6:00, 8:00, 20:00 and 22:00) for 15 minutes. The nominal heating capacity and power consumption values of ASHP system are 50400 kJ/h and 11340 kJ/h respectively, while the nominal cooling capacity and the power consumption values are 55800 kJ/h and 16884 kJ/h, respectively. The effects of tank volumes, room temperatures and collector areas on the SAASHP system in the climate conditions of Istanbul were investigated. In addition, this system was analyzed for eight different climatic conditions. Then, the performances of natural gas (NG) and solar powered natural gas (SANG) systems for the province of Istanbul were also examined. According to the results obtained; While 59% of the energy consumed by the SAASHP system is supplied from the sun, it consumes about 6.58% less energy per year than the ASHP system. SANG system consumes about 24.5% less energy than NG system. When the space is cooled with the help of the same ASHP system, the amount of power consumed by heating is increased by 48.15%. As a result of the economic analysis, it is seen that the system with the equivalent annual expenditure NG system but annual operating expenses is the SANG system. The system with the highest equivalent annual cost was SAASHP due to the total investment cost.
