Abstract (EN)

In today's context, one of the most widely used natural resources for energy production within natural resources is solar energy. The current state of affairs is characterized by the increasing concerns over popular environmental issues such as the depletion of energy reserves and global warming, along with a growing awareness among individuals who are inclined towards living in harmony with the planet, leading to an increased interest in green energy. Solar energy involves the conversion of sunlight into electrical energy through specialized technologies. It is considered an important energy source due to its environmental friendliness and ease of access. With advancements in technology, the utilization of solar panels is on the rise, contributing to their widespread adoption in various industries. Efforts are underway in the maritime industry to meet the required energy needs through solar energy systems. Additionally, alternative energy uses such as solar energy on yachts create new investment opportunities in the sector. This study discusses renewable energy sources, their reasons for preference, and how they are formed. Furthermore, the main focus of the study is on the advantages and disadvantages of solar energy on yachts, evaluating its impact on design, the environment, and users. The study takes a different approach to yacht design by examining the influence of fuel usage on interior design. Concepts such as ergonomics and sustainability are explored in yacht design, aiming to contribute to the field of interior architecture by identifying the effects of fittings used in the space on the design principles that should be employed in yacht design. The study also delves into the environmental harms, interior space effects, and deficiencies in addressing needs associated with fuel choices in yacht design. It opens a discussion on these issues and explores new approaches to tackle them. Additionally, this work aims to increase industry knowledge and bring a new vision to the sector. In recent years, Turkey has achieved top rankings in the global yacht production sector. Many domestic and foreign customers prefer local manufacturers to place yacht orders, mainly due to the quality and cost-effectiveness of labor in our country. Yachts, used for leisure purposes such as travel, entertainment, and relaxation, are classified based on the propulsion equipment that drives them: sailing yachts and motor yachts. Although yachts are generally classified into sailing and motor yachts, they can also be categorized based on size, construction materials, and hull construction methods. Creating comfortable and functional spaces according to the user's preferences in these yachts is the responsibility of the interior designer. However, for the design process to proceed and conclude healthily, the designer must grasp the physical conditions, the operating principles of all systems on the boat, and the rules set by relevant regulatory authorities. As with all maritime vehicles, the construction methods and materials used in the production of yacht-class maritime vehicles have progressed in parallel with advancing technology. In this context, this study examines the types of energy used in yachts promising a life on the water, the processes involved in the design, defining the systems and criteria influencing the process, and exploring the role of the interior designer and their relationship with other disciplines.
