Abstract (EN)

Our need for electrical energy, which is among the obligatory needs that we use every minute of our lives, is increasing day by day in parallel with technological developments. Today, energy productions made to meet this increasing need while experiencing the global climate problem is important for a sustainable future. For a habitable world, electrical energy production must be provided from renewable sources. In this study, which reflects the importance given to renewable electrical energy sources in terms of effective and efficient use on site, the most appropriate energy installation location determination methodology was created by first estimating the future usage capacity of electrical energy. In the first stage application, which is considered as small-scale, the electric energy consumption estimates of each province of our country for the 2030 years were made with Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), one of the artificial intelligence methods. Population, average household size, education, gross domestic product per capita, exports, imports and industry factors have been addressed in the first stage study covering all provinces within the borders of the country. According to these factors, the data of the 10-years period covering the years 2009-2018 and the energy consumption data of these years were modelled with ANN. The model was validated with the 0.94 R2 value obtained as a result of the modelling. Future projections for 2030 were made and mapped according to scenarios as high, medium and low. Also, the electrical energy consumption forecast of each province in the future and created solar and wind potentials were evaluated together. In order to meet the electrical energy needs in the future, a site selection study was carried out for solar and wind power plants by utilizing the decision-making processes of Geographic İnformation Systems (GIS). According to the spatial factors, Konya for solar energy and Bursa for wind energy was determined as the appropriate study region in terms of energy demand and potential. GIS analyzes were performed on land cover, elevation, slope, aspect, solar radiation amount, wind speed, protected areas, water resources, residential areas, transportation network and power transmission line factors determined according to the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which is one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis Methods. As a result of the study, the most suitable areas for solar and wind power plant installation in Konya and Bursa were determined.
