Determination of forage quality characteristics of some trigonella genotypes growing in meadow-pasture and natural vegetation of southeastern anatolia region

This study was conducted the date of May 2023 in order to determinate the forage quality characteristics with 25 Trigonella genotypes (T. coerulescens, T. filipes, T. foenum graceum, T. mesopotamica, T. monantha, T. spicata, T. spruneriana and T. strangulata). Trigonella genotypes included in the research were collected from meadow-pasture and natural vegetation of Adıyaman, Batman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Kilis, Mardin, Siirt and Şırnak provinces. After the species identification of the genotypes was carried out at Dicle University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, quality analysis was carried out to determine the quality characteristics. In the analyses, obtained walues were changed from lowest to higest for crude protein (HP) in Trigonella genotypes 15,84-22,82%, acid detergent insoluble fiber (ADF) 14,09-24,95%, neutral detergent insoluble fiber (NDF) 29,69-38,08%, acid detergent insoluble protein (ADP) 0,299-0,445%, dry matter (DM) 90,63-93,16%, digestible dry matter (DSM) 69,46-77,93%, dry matter consumption (DMT) 3,151-4,043%, relative feed value (NYD) 171,44-237,07, total digestible nutrients (TSBM) % 76,91-85,38, relative feed quality (RQ) 176,06-255,73%, digestible energy (SE) 3,24-3,61%, metabolic energy (ME) 2,66-2,96%, potassium (K) 0,41-0,95%, calcium (Ca) 1,68-2,17%, magnesium (Mg) 1,74-3,01%, phosphorus (P) 0,315-0,447%, Ca/P 4,28-5,88 and K/(Ca+Mg) 0,092-0,245. The highest walues were obtained from the genotypes, in terms of HP Trigonella filipes number 6, ADF Trigonella spruneriana number 22, NDF Trigonella spicata number 15, KM Trigonella spruneriana number 19, ADP Trigonella mesopotamica number 12 and number 24 Trigonella sp., SKM Trigonella spicata number 14, KMT Trigonella spruneriana number 16, NYD Trigonella spicata number 14, TSBM Trigonella spicata number 14, NYK Trigonella spicata number 14, SE Trigonella spicata number 14, ME Trigonella spicata number 14, K Trigonella spruneriana number 19, Ca Trigonella mesopotamica number 9, Mg Trigonella mesopotamica number 10, P Trigonella spicata number 14, Ca/P Trigonella coerulescens number 1 for and Trigonella spruneriana genotype number 19 gave the highest values in terms of K/(Ca+Mg). Among these genotypes, Trigonella spicata genotype number 14 gave the highest values in terms of the 8 traits examined (SKM, KMT, NYD, TSBM, NYK, SE, ME and P). Therefore, it is concluded that these Trigonella genotypes that stand out in the research can be created as important resources that will provide alternatives to feed production and development, and it will be useful to take these features into consideration in future breeding studies.
