Abstract (EN)
This research examines the bicycle use barriers of individuals using bicycles in the Southeastern Anatolia region depending on some variables. In the research, a descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was adopted. The study group of the research consists of a total of 216 bicycle users, 165 men, and 51 women, in the provinces of the Southeastern Anatolia region. In line with the purpose of the research, a 5-point Likert type, developed by Balcı et al. in 2017, as a data collection tool to determine the bicycle use barriers of individuals who are bicycle users, consists of 30 items and 5 sub-dimensions (Individual, Law and Legislation, Socio-cultural, Physical and Economic, Bicycle Obstacles Scale (infrastructure) were used. The Levene test was applied to the collected data, first of all, to determine whether the data was suitable for normal distribution, and as a result of the test, it was determined that p>0.005 for all factors. Independent sample T-test, one of the parametric tests, was used to determine the score differences between the paired comparative variable groups. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), one of the parametric tests, was used to determine the intra- and inter-group score differences between variable groups in three or more multiple comparisons. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis was used to determine the relationship between BEI subscales and BEI total scores, chronological age, and years of cycling. Percentage frequency distributions for demographic variables of all participants were analyzed and mean and standard deviation values were interpreted. In the research, the confidence interval was determined as 95% and the significance level was determined as p<0.005, and all calculations and analyzes were carried out using the statistical analysis package program. As a result, in the research in which the bicycle use barriers of individuals using bicycles in the Southeastern Anatolia region were examined depending on the variables of gender, marital status, education level, age, years of cycling and province of residence, gender variable was evaluated in the individual sub-dimension, educational status variable was also evaluated in the law and legislation sub-dimension and Statistically significant differences were found in the socio-cultural sub-dimension of the age variable. It was also concluded that the individuals participating in the study used bicycles for health protection, leisure time and transportation purposes, respectively.
