Abstract (EN)

In the present study, the optimum treatment times which is required for 100 % elimination of all life stages of the storage pest, bean beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus (F) hosting on Turkish origin chickpeas by using 99,90 % purity carbon dioxide under different pressures and in different gas loading and unloading durations were investigated.100 % mortality was provided against following life stages of C. maculatus at 22 °C- 26°C temperatures under following pressure and durations; (1) under 15 bars pressure, within 360 minutes in pupae, larvae and eggs, within 1 minute in adults , (2) under 20 bars pressure, within 50 minutes in eggs, within 120 minutes in larvae, within 165 minutes in pupae and within 1 minute in adults, (3) under 25 bars pressure, within 30 minutes in eggs, within 50 minutes in larvae, within 60 minutes in pupae and within 1 minute in adults, (4) under 30 bars pressure, within 30 minutes in eggs and larvae, within 40 minutes in pupae and within 1 minute in adults.It was determined that there is no correlation between the carbon dioxide loading and unloading durations and the mortality.Key words: Callosobruchus maculatus, organic chickpeas, carbon dioxide, high pressure.
