The expressionist portraits in today's fgurative painting art

The essence of the art of painting consists of form, color and line. When we look at the understanding of art of each period, these three factors show changes. It is observed that there was a Renaissance effect with the beginning of the modern art period. In this context, it is seen that artists have entered into new searches that can express themselves by questioning the period they lived in. The reflection of the inner world is based on the rejection of proportional form, correct perspective and realistic color understanding by Expressionists, which appeal to the perception of beauty of academic rules. Therefore, the new words 'expressiveness' and 'expressiveness" are considered to be the mirror of the artist. 20. it can be said that the political and social problems that arose due to the war at the beginning of the century caused the reshaping of art. It is observed that the emerging current of Expressionism is not the visible reality, but the impression gained from the apparent reality, which takes shape in the artist's inner world and creates a new form of expression. In this context, the distortion of forms used as a means of free expression becomes a conscious action of the artist. The expressionist movements that continue to develop in the West are also reflected in Turkish painting. It is observed that the first foundations were laid when the Turkish painters who were sent to Europe for art education returned to the country. In addition to the political and social events of the period, an aesthetic understanding of cultural heritage is also formed in Turkish painting. However, it is observed that figurative painting has undergone formal distortions and a colorist understanding has emerged. In this thesis, it is aimed to examine the reflections of the Expressionism movement emerging in Europe on art and the artist, how Expressionism affects Turkish painting and to observe how the deformation process is processed in figurative painting by making artist comparisons through various examples of works.
