Contemporary leadership profile transformational leadership:a research in 5 star hotels in Antalya region

In the framework of new working conditions revealed as the result of globalization,there have been extensive changes in the concept of leadership. In traditional hierarchicbusinesses, forming the goals and identifying the activities which will ensure to accomplishthese goals were realized by the people who are controlling the business. According to theframework which is valid recently, there exist the shared responsibilities, and this meansshared goals and shared attachment in the direction of realizing these goals. In continuouslychanging world and becoming more severe competitive environment, in order o achieve goalssuch as transforming into an organization contributing to civilization, increasing the globalcompetitive power, reaching an effective organizational structure, identifying the standards ofthe industry, creating customers; the classical management recipes remain inefficient, hence itis required that a new approach must be revealed. In this context, revealing the efficientleaders and growing them in order to direct the future becomes not a choice but a necessity forthe organizations.Macro transformations in the world cause the transformations in the area ofmanagement. Likely, the transformations in the area of management are developed orimplemented by manager-leader. Therefore, managers are to be leaders, leaders are to betransformative leaders.In this study, realized due to mentioned-above reasons, the concepts of manager,leadership, and transformational leadership are examined; additional to theoretical study, anempirical research is realized in order to introduce that to what extent the general managers offive star hotels in Antalya possess the transformational leadership features.
