Abstract (EN)

The definition of contemporary art has been shaped by the passage of time from modernity to the present. Industrial developments, which emerged during the Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries, characterized by new inventions and the emergence of a mechanized world, have influenced the art world. The prog-ression from one era to the next has given rise to a subsequent age. In the realm of painting, conceptual narrative and intellectual expression have gained importance over formal representation of objects. Thus, conceptual artistic thinking has emerged, leading to a progression towards a new reality. The new forms of artistic production and expression that have emerged as a result have also caused a transformation in the aesthetic understanding within the field of art. Not only has the understanding of art itself changed, but aesthetic evaluations have also undergone a shift. Within the con-text of these new aesthetic evaluations, artists in the 20th century have explored con-ceptual narratives within the relationship between painting and space. They have created artworks that actively involve the viewer, allowing them to participate in the creative process. Space has gained a meaning as it can also become a part of the artwork itself. In this regard, it is important to evaluate and understand the impact of industrial advancements and technological developments on the field of painting, as it plays a crucial role in comprehending the aesthetic perception of space and concep-tual narratives in contemporary painting. This thesis is based on the belief that in order to make artworks with conceptual narratives more understandable to all seg-ments of society, it is essential to have an understanding of the evolution of art from its history to the present. Keywords: Contemporary Art, Painting, Aesthetics, Space
