Subject-space relations that developing in the context of privacy discussions in contemporary art

Today, the concept of privacy is one of the elements that regulate and shape the subject's relations with space and place. Sexist policies that identify the concept of privacy with moral secrecy and shame also distinguish spaces in this sense. While the idea of private space as an intimate space where the subject exhibits daily life practices is integrated with the woman; as a masculine space, the public sphere is seen as the symbol of power, which is considered a representation of men. Discourse-based duality of gender, which biologically separates and classifies the body, renders other sexual orientations and other identities unidentified. In this context, the concept of privacy is included in the field of art. The close contact of contemporary art with everyday life and space is aesthetized in a conceptual framework, including the subject. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the current perception of privacy and the point of view that includes individuals as gendered identities with art productions. The relationship between privacy and space as the subject of art is primarily based on the idea that space is handled independently and without identity. The first part of the study examines the gender approaches including the spatial expansions and the social-moral dimension of the concept of privacy. In the second part, the system of spaces to which gender discourses and different sexual orientations directly affect the subject-space relations is investigated. In the third chapter, the reflections of the mentioned network of spatial relations on contemporary art are investigated. Artistic expression of these concepts and examples of different private spaces are examined. In the fourth section, Gordon Matta Clark, Orhan Pamuk / Museum of Innocence, Sophie Calle and Louise Bourgeois are among the artists who have direct contact with all the subjects under consideration and offer alternative space suggestions.
