The effects of the improvements on contemporary Turkish art of printmaking on artistic expression

The expression which has the meaning of telling about an idea or feeling through words or movements has emerged due to the thinking ability which is just special to humankind. Human beings who are eager to express themselves through words, have developed and used actions, sounds, writings and pictures to meet this need. They mostly used pictures at the times when there weren?t any languages- even handwriting, and the concept of artistic expression came into existence at those times.The first pictures were drawn on the walls of caves which are known as the first examples of artistic expression, were formed by pressing hands on the wall and spraying paint around them and transfer the form on the wall. This process is regarded to be the first example of the printing techniques which is known as pattern design at present.In time, paralell to the changes and developments in people?s lives, printing techniques have been improved. There have been various new techniques on the surface of the walls, papersi seals were made by heating clay and wooden blocks were carved. Wood, metal, Stones and silk were used.In time, by including new printing Technologies like advanced photography techniques, computer technology, photocopier and printer, the working area of printmaking have been varied and enlarged, providing the artist an ambience which is inevitable to perform. When the aesthetic value of printmaking, their advantage of being copied and the convenience to be bought are taken into consideration, its contribution to art has a significance which can?t be undervalued. Additionally, the impact of this can be understood better by using the opportunities of using various techniques in design and composition and the productive performance area where the artists finds the chance to form his/ her subjective style which is very important. Therfore, in our research we aim to focus on the effects of improvements on the artistic expression of the artists, by analyzing the developments in the area of printmaking, adding the contemporary techniques.
