The examining of jewelries production in Erzurum today

In the research, jewelries producing in Erzurum were examined in terms of design feature, production techniques and used raw materials. The research space is consisted of 255 jewelry which includes in 35 workshops that produce gold, silver and oltu stone, 100 jewelry stores that sell 22 carat gold and 120 jewelry stores that sell silver and oltu stone. In the scope of this research, the survey was carried out to 80 sector representatives making gold jewelry, making oltu stone management and selling products. The information obtained from the result of surveys is expressed frequency and percent through tables.In this research analysis has been done on producing phases of Erzurum burma bracelet which is produced as traditional ornament in the region. Selected 75 pieces gold, silver, oltu stone product, are produced and sold in the region today, has been introduced using prepared observation forms. With this research, it is aimed to answer and document the questions like what the features of jewelries are produced in region?s design, motif, ornomention and composition; what the raw materials are used; which techniques are used to produce jewelries; what the professional development works of manufacturers are; why jewelries are bought in the region and what the traditional jewelries with region-specific properties are. As a result of research, it is observed that manufacturers dealing with gold and precious jewels are at the first place; after this the manufacturers dealing with oltu stone processing comes.Survey participants have indicated in Erzurum, about producing design, there isn?t any design workshop in jewelry sector to produce creative and contemporary design. Manufacturers working in the region have indicated that they achieved works about producing design and development by following industry publications. The majority of manufacturers produces goods in their own workshops. As a result of research, the researcher?s suggestions are based on datas were given in research.
