In the first chapter, theimportance and necessity of thermal insulation for buildings, national economy andenvironmental pollution have been searched and explained. As far as it is concerned,implementation of thermal insulation for buildings will reduce the consumption of fuel,natural gas and electricity etc. for heating and cooling. Hence, the reduction of costs forheating-cooling and decreasing for the harmful exhaust gas that is harmful for nature will beobtained. As a result thermal insulation will contribute to national economy and will help thereduction of environmental pollution. On the other hand, thermal insulation will make thecover of building withstand thermal shock and atmospheric effects therefore it will make thelife of buildings longer.In the second chapter, the materials used for thermal insulation and their characteristics havebeen determined as well. In addition, the criterions of evaluation for materials used forthermal insulation have been issued in this chapter. In terms of variation of confortconditions sense, thermal insulation materials is varietied as well as. Performing theevaluation for materials fastidiously and analysing their lots of characteristics are must sothat thermal insulation could get its aim.In the third chapter following the material evaluation, the application of thermal insulationfor buildings has been explained. Furthermore, thermal insulation applied for thecomponents of buildings such as walls, roofs and floors etc. has been illustrated one by onewith the help of application figures. The thermal insulation applied for walls, roofs andfloors is implemented alone or implemented with the coordination view of water-soundinsulation. The kind of application of thermal insulation for roofs is determinated by the kindof roofs and their usage style.Thermal coating of buildings is the best technique that bestresults can be obtain by the means of exterminating heat bridges.Throughout the study, the thermal insulation applied for buildings has been based on theview of practical applications beyond the theoretical calculations and equations. Thetechnical terms and standards that are considered for heat insulation in Turkey has been heldaccording to TSE 825.24
