The research of the effect of the security doubt on the use of internet and vakifbank customers

Service coverage and quality in banking sector have been improving continuously in parallel with technologic improvements. Checks, plastic cards, chipped credit cards, online banking services due to transition to electronic banking are the results of improving technology.Online banking system, which was firstly used by Türkiye İş Bank in 1998 and followed by Garanti Bank and other banks, has begun to be implemented in our country. Due to online banking system that facilitates routine banking operations drastically, costumers can easily carry out operations such as deposit operations, operations of investment account, money transfers, tax and bill payments.Online banking services not only ensure easiness for costumers but also ensures banks to decrease the number of their branches and by this way ensures low cost for banks. On the contrary, it causes an important risk which is security. Phishing, e-mail, key logger and screen logger methods are mostly used methods in electronic banking fraud. Cheaters can carry out banking operations on accounts of customers by reaching their account numbers or passwords by using aforementioned methods. Banks have found new solutions in order to increase security to prevent these kinds of events.The subject of this study is to search the effect of security concern on the use of online services of banks. First of all, the internet, electronic and internet banking and security concerns are explained; and in the last part, data are tried to be commented by carrying out a survey study about this issue. At the end of the study, the rate of internet using is determened to change according to age, education and income. But some events such as cheat experienced in internet banking and forgery does not affect internet using negatively.
