Factors affecting undergraduate career thoughts of fine arts high school 12 th grade music department students

This research was designed as a quantitative study and conducted using a survey model to determine factors that affect students' decision in choosing undergraduate courses among 12th grade music students in fine art high schools. The scope of this study includes music students studying in the 2021-2022 academic year in high schools of fine arts representing the Mediterranean region of Turkey and the sample is collected from Adana Çukurova, Antalya ATSO, Antalya Alanya Türkler, Burdur, Hatay Bedii Sabuncu, Isparta, Mersin Nevid Kodallı and Osmaniye Abdurrahman Keskin in the Mediterranean region among the 12th grade music department students studying at fine arts high schools. Data of this study were collected with the help of the 'Factors Affecting Career Thought' scale developed by the researchers. The prepared scale consists of two parts; the first part of the scale is about personal information, and the second part includes 20 questions in total, involving the influence of the three dimensions of "family and close environment", "personal preference" and "economic factors" on career preferences are included. A total of 106 students answered the scale and the obtained data were analyzed with the help of SPSS 25 package program. The results determined that the career preferences of the 12th-grade music students in the fine arts high schools were firstly influenced by economics, secondly by personal preferences and finally by family and close environment.
