Investigation of academic motivation levels of fine arts high school music department students according to various variables

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to examine the academic motivation levels of Fine Arts High School music department students. The universe of this research, in which the relational scanning model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, is used, consists of music department students studying at fine arts high schools in Turkey. The sample group of the research consists of 327 music department students, 192 girls and 135 boys, studying at Van GSL, Siirt Takasbank GSL, Karaman GSL, Antalya Ticaret ve Sanayi Odası GSL, Denizli Hakkı Dereköylü GSL, T.C. Ziraat Bankası (Balıkesir) GSL and Bolu GSL. In order to collect the data of the research, the Personal Information Form and the Academic Motivation Scale (ASQ) were applied to the students. Cronbach's Alpha was used to calculate the reliability analysis of the data, Kolmogorov-Smirnova, Shapiro-Wilk test was used for normality analysis, Mann-Whitney U test was used when comparing paired groups, and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used when comparing groups with more. As a result of the findings, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the accommodation status of the Fine Arts High School music department students and their academic motivation levels, according to the Self-Transcendence score of the scale and the total score of the Academic Motivation Scale. In addition, while there was a significant difference in the academic motivation levels of the participants according to the grade levels, in terms of the discovery score of the scale, there was no significant difference in the academic motivation levels in terms of gender and main instrument variables.
