Hâfız 'Ulvî's Dîvân (analysis- text- index)

Ulvî is a divan poet (Ottoman Literature Poet), who lived in the 19th century. The poet?s real name is Hâfız Ali Bedreddin. There is no record about his father?s name, the dates of his birth and death, and his jop. There is no information about his life and literary personality in records. Ulvî?s only work known today is his Divan, which is the subject of his study. His divan is recorded in the library of Istanbul University. Its record number is T.2922. In addition, the divan was printed in 1290 (according to Hegira calendar). The printed divan consist of 168 papers and monuscript consists of 48 leaves.This theis consists of three parts: 1. Ulvî?s life, literary personality and his work. 2. The features about form and content of Ulvî?s divan. 3. The text of the divan and the index.In the first part, Ulvî?s life, personality, literary personality and his works are derived from historical sources and his poems.In the second part, poetic forms, meter, rhyme and redifs of the poems in the divan are studied. Furthermore the prominent elements in the concent of the divan are presented and they are examined one by one.In Hâfız Ulvî?s divan there are 43 poems in the title of ?Kasideler?. In addition, in the divan there are 231 gazels, 6 rübais, 2 terkib-bends, 7 mütekerrir murabbas, 6 müfrets and 10 güftes. The güftes appear to be told mutually. Five of them belong to Salâhî, one of Ulvî?s friends.Most of his poems are about secular subjects. It is possible to say that the language of his poems in clear. In his poems he doesn?t use compound nouns and compound adjectives much. There are some poems written with no compounds. He uses reduplications and idioms to strengthen the Iyricism.
