Criminal libel

The defamation regulated through the Turkish Penal Code, the legal interest protected in these crimes, the concepts of aggrieved and perpetrator, elements of the crimes, their special aspects, their major cases and the provisions of procedure pertaining to these crimes is discussed in these thesis. In this context, the purpose intended to be obtained through this thesis study is to determine the solutions and offer an insight to implementers concerning these subjects.While one of the most common types of the defamation is discussed, we have tried to take advantage from Supreme Court cases and theory books in this thesis. Our work consists of two parts. In the firstsection, the legal interest protected in the defamation crime, the aggrieved and the perpetrator of the defamation crime, the elements of the defamation and major cases of defamation crime are examined thoroughly.In the second section, special aspects of the defamation crime the provisions of procedure to be implemented are discussed.
