Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the cases of Chlamydia abrtus in 180 ewes that aborted during lambing period in different flocks in Hakkâri province and its districts. Blood samples from aborted ewes were taken from the vena jugularis according to the technique. The blood samples taken into biochemical serum tubes were centrifuged at 3000 RPM /20 minutes in a short time and the sera obtained after centrifugation were taken into ependorfs and kept in a deep freezer at -20 °C until the time of analysis. After providing sufficient samples for the study, ELISA test of the samples was performed using a commercial indirect ELISA test kit (Sunlong sheep Chlamydia abortus ELISA test kit) to detect antibodies against Chlamydia abortus and read at 450 nm wavelength on an ELISA reader (SEAC SIRJO S). According to the data obtained, 8 samples (4.4%) out of 180 samples taken from Hakkâri province and its districts were positive for C. abortus ELISA test. When the distribution of the samples with positive Chlamydia abortus ELISA test according to the districts was examined, 4 sheep in Hakkari province center, 3 sheep in Yüksekova district and 1 sheep in Şemdinli district were found positive for C. abrtus ELISA test. As a result, for the first time, data on the prevalence of C. abortus in sheep farms in Hakkari province center, Yüksekova and Şemdinli districts were obtained. The data obtained were shared with the animal health branch directorates in the agricultural directorates in Hakkari provinces and districts. Especially in the last decade, it will contribute to the development of activities for the development of preventive measures against C. abortus, which is one of the most important factors causing abortion in sheep farms.
