Abstract (EN)

Universities have a significant impact on the development of cities and societies in different areas. The main objectives of universities are; producing knowledge, conducting scientific research, leading people to acquire a profession, and taking a role in cultural interaction. The opening of a university in every province of Turkey had effects on the cities where the university was founded in different areas. At the beginning of these; There are effects in areas such as economic, demographic, spatial and socio-cultural. In addition, the university contributes to industrial and industrial activities. Hakkari University is an institution that started its educational activities in 2008 and opened departments in different fields every year. The university has economic, social and cultural effects on the city. At the same time, it provides a qualified workforce to the city of Hakkari, which has limited industrial and industrial activities. With the opening of the university, students and academics from the surrounding provinces made the city more lively, further development of the local economy and cultural change in the city. In this study, qualitative method was used. Using the interview technique, one of the qualitative methods, in-depth interviews were conducted with 25 people of different ages and different occupational groups residing in the center of Hakkari, and the effects of the University on the city were tried to be learned. These interviews were deciphered and subjected to content analysis. Key Words: University Perception, University-City Relationship, Hakkari University.
