Financial risk classification and determination of risk indicators of public open manufacturing industry enterprises by artificial intelligence methods

While the risk is the possibility of loss, the concept of financial risk is the possibility that companies face the inability to pay their debts. For this reason, it is important for companies to determine their financial risk levels and factors that affect this indicator in advance and to take appropriate measures. When determining these risk levels, correct analysis methods should be used and subjective comments should be avoided. In this thesis, it is aimed to determine the financial risk levels of the companies in the manufacturing industry sector and the factors affecting the financial risk level. Within the scope of the research, analysis was carried out using artificial intelligence methods, which are objective analysis methods, using the data published by 177 companies in Borsa İstanbul (BIST) manufacturing industry sector between 2009-2018. In this thesis, unlike other studies in the literature, risk analysis was made for the first time on the manufacturing industry and in this analysis, two of the artificial intelligence methods were evaluated together. As a result of the study, the financial risk level of the manufacturing industry sector was 0.47 and 9 financial risk profiles with different characteristics were created. Financial Risk and Equity / Total of Foreign Resources, Current Assets / Short Term Liabilities (Current Rate), Short Term Liabilities - (Cash Equivalents + Financial Investments) / Inventories (Inventory Dependency Ratio), Operating Expenses / Net Sales Rate, Cost of Sales / It was determined that Net Sales variables have a statistically significant relationship.
