Analysis of the maqamat transitions in Hammâmizâde İsmail Dede Efendi's mevlevi rituals and study recommendations for kanun performance

In this study; A literature review was conducted regarding the qanun in instrument education, books, methods and theses were examined, but it was determined that not many studies were carried out on the past. In the study; The 3rd Salutations of the 6 Mevlevi Rituals composed by İsmail Dede Efendi were examined in terms of transition. Each Mevlevi Rite was evaluated under subheadings, and a solution to the problem sentence was tried to be produced by creating sample studies according to the order of the makams whose transition was determined. Sample etudes created with the intention of both being a preliminary preparation for the work and contributing to advanced level qanun performance; It is supported by different scales and basic playing techniques used in the qanun. In the prepared studies; A total of 5 maqam passages were used for the Saba Mevlevi Rite, a total of 7 for the Neva Mevlevi Rite, a total of 6 for the Bestenigar Mevlevi Rite, a total of 5 for the Hüzzam Mevlevi Rite, and a total of 10 for the Ferahfeza Mevlevi Rite. Since the 3rd Salute of the Saba-Buselik Mevlevi Rite is the same as the 3rd Salute of the Neva Mevlevi Rite, no study was performed in the Saba-Buselik makam. In the conclusion section of the research; It has been concluded that in order to increase mastery in the performance of the qanun, which is specific to instrument training, Turkish Music should be benefited from not only instrumental works but also vocal works. It has been determined that distant makam transitions and rarely used makams were used a lot in the rituals composed by Dede.
