Abstract (EN)
iiABSTRACTLegend is one of the literary types that reflects conception of the world andhistory of a nation. Turks have a rich legend tradition. In these legends, Turks?comprehension of history, view of world and national pleasures can be followedalong the history. However, in our country it can not be said that researches onlegends having epic and religious characteristics are enough. In our research, to discover even only one volume of Hamza-nâme, which isone of the slamic legends and to specify its place in Turk legend literature byintroducing its heros were determined as the aims. Hamza-nâme consists of braverystories that appeared after the combatant soul and personality of Hz. Hamza, uncleand foster-brother of Hz. Muhammed. In the legend, Hz. Hamza is the symbol ofpower and invincibility. Hamza-nâme (16th volume) which is the original text for ourinvestigation was taken from stanbul Süleymaniye Library. First, the original textwas transcripted. Then, its summary was written. Last, the heros of Hamza-nâme wasintroduced and the status of its heros in other legends was found. The characters ofthe legend were evaluated taking into account Taberû Tarihi and Şehnâme, theirstatus in Islâmic Turk legends Battal-nâme, Danişmend-nâme and Saltuk-nâme wereinvestigated. In the study, it was seen that the 16th volume had a wide personnel and manyheros in Taberû Tarihi and Şehnâme took also their place in this legend. It wasemphasized that the main phenomenon was taken from Taberû Tarihi and Şehnâme,the events and adventures belonging to different eras, places and people wereattributed to Hz Hamza and for this reason it was stated that the information givenabout heros of the legend were different from their real historical personalities.Furthermore, it was confirmed that the heros of Hamza-nâme and some events in thelegend appeared also in Islâmic Turk legends (Battal-nâme, Danişmend-nâme,Saltuk-nâme) and this was explained by giving examples from texts.
