Analysis of the household debt tendency in terms of demographic, socioeconomic and psychosocial factors

Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between some demographic factors (gender, age, education, marital status, employment status, number of children, family size), socioeconomic factors (income, number of credit card, credit card limit), psychosocial factors (attitude towards debt, materialism, attitude towards the money) and the level of debt in addition examine the relationship between financial literacy, financial management, financial stress, financial satisfaction, life satisfaction and the level of debt. This study was conducted on 300 individuals living in three different socioeconomic provinces of Ankara (Çankaya (high)), (Keçiören (middle)), (Mamak (low)). Financial Literacy Questions, Materialism Scale, Money Attitude Scale, Financial Management Behavior Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale, Financial Satisfaction and Financial Stress Questions were used to determine the relationship between the variables included in the research and the level of debt. The research hypotheses were tested with "Chi Square, One-Way ANOVA, Tamhane T2 and Pearson Correlation Analysis". After these analyzes had made, "Regression Model" of the study was created. As a result of this study, it was found that when age, number of children, family size, amount of income, number of credit card and credit card limit increase, debt also increases. It was found that marital status and employment status, positive attitude towards debt and the low level of financial literacy the level of debt increases. In addition, individuals who are worried about monetary matters the level of debt increases.
