The research on the constructional specifications of moving roofs

The roofs which could be deployed from open position into closed position completely or partially are called as retractable roofs. The main function of the structure system is almost same in the retractable roof systems that have been used for years and they even provide advantages to its function against the external weather conditions and external physical impact.Because of these advantages of the retractable roofs, their usage is increasing with the developing technologies day by day. Therefore, this thesis is prepared with a systematic description in order to provide solid information to the designers.In the second part of the thesis, the retractable roofs are defined, the history of the retractable roof systems is mentioned, and they are classified according to their retraction characteristics. The second part contains tables and relevant examples in a systematic manner. Finally, in the fourth part of the thesis, the examples in the third part are discussed in detail. The results of these examples are graphed more comprehensively and comparatively. Consequently, the retractable roof systems are compared and the statistical results are obtained.
