Abstract (EN)
As in most areas, poster design has also been affected by the new possibilities offered by the developing technology to our lives. Most of our time is spent in front of digital media and screen. Designers also took advantage of the opportunities offered by this new medium and included the element of movement in the poster design. In this research, a comparison of how much the motion poster and the static poster attract the attention of the audience and how successful they are in terms of conveying information has been made. The aim of the research is to evaluate whether there is a positive effect on the task of attracting attention and giving information, which is one of the basic principles of the poster, while using the movement element provided by the digital media. The research has been made with the foresight that the moving poster would increase the success of these basic principles. Comparative analysis method has been used to compare the motion posters and the static posters. In the research, eye tracking application (GazeRecorder), questionnaire and semi-structured interview datasets has been used. 5 different posters has been designed for the research, and both motion and static versions of each of them has been created. Numerical data of the number of people looking at the predetermined areas, the first look time and the total time viewed during the display period has been obtained by the eye tracking application for both the motion and the static poster versions. In the survey questions, the information that was remembered from the poster design was evaluated after the screening. The data that has been obtained from these two methods has been compared and interpreted with semi-structured interview notes. As a result, the element of movement in the motion posters did not succeed in attracting attention compared to the static posters. However, when looking at the time and the high correct answer rates in the survey question, it is seen that it keeps the attention on it for a longer time and is more successful in conveying information.
