The use of traditional architectural elements in the harput region as a plastic value in painting

Anatolia has been known as the cradle of many civilizations and cultures throughout history. Architectural structures are the material cultural assets, which are produced in the historical process and transferred from generation to generation, in which the cultural accumulations of people from the past are best reflected. It is seen that the traditional structures in the Harput region reflect the culture of the inhabitants in the best way. A wide variety of artistic works have been created by using these cultural assets. In this master's thesis, the elements of traditional architecture in the Harput region, one of the most important settlements of Anatolia, which have historical value from the past to the present, have been examined as a plastic value. The traditional architectural elements in Harput are examined in depth and it is tried to emphasize the necessary importance to its historical and cultural values. Harput, which is about to disappear nowadays, draws attention to the fact that this region has an aesthetically rich texture with pictures made from rich traditional architectural elements. In this context, original painting works from traditional architectural elements were created in Harput. The resulting fifteen original works were interpreted and used on the exterior and interior surfaces of traditional architecture. In the researches and applications made by specifying the general details of the use of pictorial values, the traditional architectural building elements examined in the artistic sense and how the plastic elements in the painting develop together are explained with the sources. The pictures were determined as a result of literature review. Related articles, journals, studies and books on the subject are examined and necessary information is compiled. The thesis consists of four chapters, conclusions and bibliography. In the first chapter, the methodology is emphasized. In the second part, Elâzığ Harput region is examined. In this section, the historical and architectural works of Harput are studied under the main headings. The architectural works we studied in Harput are: Milk Castle, Assyrian Church - Virgin Mary Church, Aslanli Mosque, Dabakhane Mosque, Ulu Mosque, Kurşunlu Mosque Fountain, Çahpur Fountain, Ahi Musa Mosque and Tomb, Sara Hatun Mosque and Mansur Baba Tomb. Baba Masjid and Tomb. Information about all the works mentioned is given in detail. In the third section; The architectural elements in the art of painting were examined. This section consists of two parts. In the first part, the place of the architectural elements in Western painting, in the second part the place of the architectural elements in the Turkish painting is explained. In the fourth part, the analysis of 16 canvas painting applications made by me have been analyzed.
