Özet (EN)
The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the secularization idea of the American theologian Harvey Cox. In this thesis, Cox's secularization analysis will be presented by comparing it with the "classical paradigm", "new paradigm" and "eclectic paradigm" approaches in the literature. Within this context, the method to be used in the thesis is a comparative and interpretative method. Because Cox's authenticity can only be demonstrated by such a comparison. With this method, not only the specificities of Cox's understanding of secularization, but also the theological and epistemological tensions that stand at the center of this understanding can be determined. The contribution of this thesis to the literature will be not only to lay out the outline of Cox's secularization theory but also to make the tension lines in this theory clear. Moreover, since Cox's understanding of secularization has not been studied in the Turkish literature, this thesis will be the first step in an attempt to fill a literary gap. Keywords: Harvey Cox, secularism, God, City, Christianity
