Hasan Âli Yücel's place in Turkish philosophical life

Hasan Âli Yücel is a thinker who has both a political and an intellectual identity in the Turkish history of the Republican Period. He is also one of the important cultural figures of his time. As a writer, a poet and a thinker, he has produced important works in different fields. The subject of our study is to examine the place of Hasan Âli Yücel in Turkish philosophical life. In order to do this, his position in the socio-cultural environment should be addressed. Yücel's contributions to the mentality of the period he lived in and to Turkish philosophy are included in this study. Our research is depended upon the examination of the literature review of the written works left by Hasan Âli Yücel. Up to the present, researches have mostly been conducted on Hasan Âli Yücel's identity as a politician, his identity as an educator, his writing and poetry. However, his philosophical identity has not been sufficiently emphasized. The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate Hasan Âli Yücel's place in Turkish Philosophical Life. By revealing this little-known aspect of Yücel, making a modest contribution to the studies about him forms the basis of our thesis.
