Space analysis of hospital patient room floors within the scope of health building standards: The case of Malatya

Human's effort to be healthy for centuries is the most basic need today as well. The most important reason for the rapid increase in healthcare structures is to respond to these needs. For healthcare structures to be integrated with rapidly developing technology, social changes, and to be designed in a future-oriented manner, they must be created per certain standards. To review and assess the current conditions of hospital buildings in Malatya province, a study was administered by taking the Turkish Healthcare Buildings Minimum Design Standards and FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospital as a reference. The study is planned to be conveyed on Gözde Academy, Divan Hospital, Park Hospital and Müjde Hospital in Malatya along with the data acquired as a result of the essential literature review and health building standards research. In the study, confined to the floors of the patient rooms, the units on the floors were listed, the standards were collected, and the plans, measurements and photographs of the patient room floors were provided in the field study by visiting the hospitals. In line with the data gathered, the spaces on the patient room floors were separated and assessed within the scope of the standards. Results of the study can be a beneficial source for designers for the places on the floors of the patient rooms, existing or planned to be built in other cities of our country, especially in the province of Malatya, to be future-oriented and fully respond to the needs.
