Abstract (EN)
Objective: A Laboratory Information System (LIS) is a software system that records, manages and stores data for clinical laboratories. In this study,it is aimed to increase the performance of existing LIS with additional modules and decision support systems (DSS), classification of laboratory samples within the framework of certain rules, taking optimum sample quantities, automatic acceptance, ensuring fast and easy access by using Clarion, C #, VB.NET software languages and Oracle 11g, Sql Server 2014 databases. Method: In the software development processes: First of all, the database design and interface software has been developed to determine optimum sample quantities and containers. Then the developed system calculated the sample containers and quantities according to the entered data and rules. Results: When this system is used by integrating it with the auto-labeling device in the Blood Collection Unit of Akdeniz University Hospital, In the examinations of the same type of system, up to 5 tubes were used in the same kind of system, while up to 2 tubes were used in the new system, while the average waiting time for patients was reduced by 33% from 3 minutes to 2 minutes, the case of giving a sample of the wrong sample, which is 0.174%, is eliminated. When the number of receptions per hour was evaluated in the study, the new system received an average of 176 samples, while the staff received an average of 21 samples. According to these numbers, it can be seen that the new system is more efficient in terms of receptions than the old system. Conclusion: In the analysis conducted on 1701 patients selected in the evaluation of the new system as a result of the study; It is seen that compared with the old system, in the new system the number of hourly receptions increased, the number of sample tubes taken from the patients and the number of errors decreased, the work flow was accelerated, the workload and the institution costs decreased, as a result of the surveys, satisfaction of patients and confidence in the institution has increased. In addition, the effects of the improved software on LIS have been presented, and information is provided about how the sample procurement and reception process should be in ideal laboratory system.
