Abstract (EN)
In recent years, there have been significant physical and spatial changes in hospital buildings. Due to the effect of these changes on the patients, such designed hospitals are called "healing hospitals". Based on these changes, the designs that create physically and psychologically beneficial effects have been gaining great importance. It has been understood that the recovery of the hospitals are not only related to their medical treatments, but also their spatial supports to help patients get better. Within the context of this thesis, the development of hospital structures in historical process is discussed. The criteria affecting hospital design were examined and their effects on the design were revealed. With the awareness that healing hospitals are effective in the healing process of patients, nowadays such hospitals gained great importance. Moreover, the concepts like patient-centered design, evidence-based design and healing architecture have been examined. In this study, it is aimed to examine the common usage areas of the selected Medova Hospital with the recent hospital design approach. Questionnaires were conducted on hospital users, patient, hospital staff and doctor groups. Questions were directed and examined in accordance with the improved architectural principles. There is concluded that there are differences in opinions among patients, staff and doctors. With these data obtained from this research, future suggestions were made.
