Abstract (EN)
This quasi-experimental study was conducted with a control group using pretest-posttest design on the purpose of analyse the effect of parental participation in the care of hospitalized child on parental satisfaction and anxiety of both parent and child. 61 to experimental group, 61 to control group total of 122 child and parent was chosen with basic randomization method to participate in the study. Data collection tools were information forms showing children and parents' background, Parental Involvement Questionnaire in Hospitalized Children, PedsQL parental satisfaction scale on health care, Beck Anxiety Inventory and Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. In the assessment of the datas descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, Student's T-test, Mann-Whitney U Test, Paired T test and Wilcoxon test were used. Experimental and control groups were compared in accordance with their pretest-posttest scores of Beck Anxiety Inventory and there was statistically significant difference on the post-test scores of the two groups (p<0,001). On the post-test between the experimental and control groups, statistically significant difference seen considering sub-dimensions of PedsQL parental satisfaction scale on health care; informing, parental participitaion, communication, technical skill, emotional necessities, general satisfaction as well as total scores and average scores of the scale (p<0,001). Experimental and control groups were compared in accordance with their pre-test scores of Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and there wasn't statistically significant difference found between the groups (p>0,05). The two groups were compared in accordance with their post-test scores of Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and there was statistically significant difference between the two groups (p<0,001). In conclusion the participation of the parents increases the satisfaction of the parents on health care and decreases the anxiety of both the parent and the child.
