Özet (EN)

The art of ıslamic calligraphy, which has a very special place in Islamic arts, has been continuing its existence by changing and developing since the first writing of the Qur'an. The writing, which was originally intended to record texts, later diversified according to the place where it was to be written and began to gain an aesthetic form. The diversity of writing has increased as calligraphers in search of aesthetics have turned to different forms of writing over the centuries. This diversity led to the emergence of writing styles that we call "shaz". Apart from the letter compositions that have certain rules in the art of calligraphy, there is a level of writing that can be considered shaz. These writing styles consist of gestures and ornamental signs in both letters and writing. Especially the interpretations of calligraphers from Sheikh Hamdullah to the present day will be tried to be brought up throughout the thesis. In this study, which we call "Shaz Spellings in Calligraphy", selections from the writings of the Ottoman period and today's calligraphers belonging to our subject were selected and examined and compared from time to time. The lives of calligraphers who are prominent in Shaz spellings are also briefly included.
