Abstract (EN)

After 1973, Turkey was among the countries that exported large amounts of labour to Middle Eastern countries. The labour exported from Turkey to the Middle East was supplied from various cities in Turkey. In the study, it is aimed to evaluate the causes and consequences of the labour migration from Hatay, which has an important place among the cities that provide labour resources, to the Middle East countries. In the study, the general situation of migration to Hatay has been tried to be revealed, and it has been understood that the worker migrations from Hatay to the Middle East countries have an important place in the migration memory of the country. It has been concluded that the reasons why the workers of Hatay prefer to immigrate to Arab countries are as follows: The city of Hatay is close to the Middle East countries, the religious and cultural values of Hatay and the Middle East countries are similar. It has been revealed that the total number of migrations from Hatay is much higher than the official data, since the migrations from Hatay take place illegally as well as legally. In order to explain and clearly understand the subject with an accurate method, which is handled in a multidisciplinary manner, it was deemed appropriate to divide the study under three main titles. In the first chapter, the concepts related to migration and its definitions in different literatures were mentioned. While explaining the phenomenon of global migration, the theoretical framework of migration was revealed. In the second part, the historical processes of migrations are examined and the events that Turkey has experienced in the last century regarding migration are discussed. In the third part, the survey results of the study group were given. Accordingly, the reasons, distribution, organization and results of the migrations from Hatay to the Middle East countries were examined. The problems, potential and structure of migrations were explained, and the differences between these migrations to the Middle East and labour migration to Western European countries were expressed. Thus, a structural analysis of all aspects of labour migration from Hatay to the Middle East countries was made.
