RISK MANAGEMENT IN AVIATION AND STUDY OF RISK AREAS INCIVIL AVIATION TRANSPORTATION(M.Sc.Thesis)U ur YILMAZGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYDecember 2005ABSTRACTIn this research, operational risk area survey is aimed by analyzing thelast five years accidents and events in civil aviation transportation. Inoperation phase, 555 airplane accident data and the five step riskmanagement procedure that international aviation organizations thatpioneers flight safety has been used. As a result of the risk analysismade with the survey of the basic risk factors including human,airplane, mission and media, it has been determined that human factor,landing phase, Month January and Autumn and Summer seasons havevery high risk values. In the direction of determined precedence, riskdetermination analysis and risk controls that have to be taken andstandard operating procedures in Turkey and the world have beenobserved. The benefits of risk analysis procedures in which theprobability of accidents that has to be taken into account with severityand the formation requirement of flight safety foundations of their ownrisk models have been brought up, and proposals minimizing theaccident risks have been presented for the benefit of decision makers.Science Code : 205Key Words : Aviation, Airplane, Risk, Accident, SafetyPage Number : 132Adviser : Prof.Dr.Re at KASAP
