Abstract (EN)

Information systems provide significant opportunities to gain competitive advantage and also to maximize operational efficiency for airlines as well as other businesses. Therefore, information system planning activity is necessary to be strategic.In this study, first of all, airlines and strategy concepts were discussed. Then, the second section identified the strategic importance of information systems in airlines and mentioned about its usage. At the third section, strategic information system planning concept, objectives, success factors, and approaches were examined.Last section includes a Delphi study to determine the purposes, success factors and approaches of strategic information system planning in airlines. Airline executives and academicians studying on airlines, strategic management, and management information systems participated in this study. Three-round Delphi study was used and the results were analyzed associated statistical techniques.Consequently, strategic information systems planning purposes, success factors and approaches are determined in airlines. Accordingly, Delphi participants reached a consensus that organizational approach advocating information systems planning should be done as a result of continuous interaction between information systems department and business organization is more appropriate for airlines.
