Abstract (EN)
This research has been carried out in order to evaluate the Life Science Class of 3rd Grade Curriculum, which was updated in 2018, according to the CIPP model. This research is a mixed method study in which both quantitative and qualitative research methods and techniques are used. Convergent parallel pattern, one of the mixed method patterns, has been used in the research. General screening pattern has been used in the quantitative dimension of the research, and the holistic single case pattern, which is one of the case study methods, has been used in the qualitative dimension. The quantitative data of the study were obtained from 318 classroom teachers and 534 students in Nevşehir province. Interview data were collected from 22 classroom teachers working in Kozaklı district of Nevşehir province. Observations were carried out in 4 different 3rd grade classes in 4 different schools in Kozaklı, Nevşehir. Within the scope of the document analysis, Life Science Curriculum in 2018 and the Life Science coursebook of 3rd grades by Pacific Publications were examined. In the quantitative dimension of the research, an evaluation scale was developed According to the CIPP Model of the Life Science Curriculum in order to determine the teachers' level of view about the curriculum. The reliability of the scale with 36-item and 4-factor was calculated and found to be 0.969. The KR-20 reliability coefficient of the 45-item achievement test, which was developed to determine the general achievement levels of the students in the quantitative dimension of the research, was calculated and found to be 0.918. A semi-structured interview form and a structured observation form were developed to collect data for the qualitative dimension of the research. All quantitative and qualitative data were collected in the 2nd semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The analysis of the data obtained through the scale was done by using the t-test, ANOVA test and calculating the kurtosis-skewness values by means of the SPSS 23 program. The analysis of the data obtained through the achievement test was made by calculating the arithmetic mean of the students'test scores, the standard deviation value, and the maximum and minimum scores through the Excel program. In the analysis of the data collected by the interview form, the descriptive analysis method, which is one of the qualitative data analysis methods, has been used. In the analysis of the data obtained through the structured observation form within the scope of the research, frequency, percentage and arithmetic mean values were calculated and found, based on the rating in the observation form for each teacher behaviour in the form. Content analysis technique was used in the examination of the documents within the scope of this research. As a result of the research, it has been concluded that the context and product dimensions of the program were partially sufficient, the input dimension was insufficient, and the process dimension was sufficient in line with the collected data. When the program is evaluated in general, it can be said that the Life Science Course 3rd Grade Curriculum is partially sufficient. In addition, it can be stated that the qualitative and quantitative data acquired in this study overlap and support each other significantly.
