Examining opinions about the effects of outcomes of social studies teaching on citizens

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of lecture curriculum sapplied in 1968-1998 and 2005 on students / citizens graduated from these programs. Phenomenon science model thatone of the qualitative research methods are based on in the research. The maximum diversity sampling technique included in purposeful sampling methods was used in determining the sample of the research. A semi-structuredinter view form was prepared toaddress the questions prepared in line with the common goals / achievements and 60 interviews were held with different age and occupation groups. The talk stook 15-50 minutes. Participants were graduated from the 1968 life science curriculum, 21 from the 1998 program, and 15 from the 2005 program. In the first part of the prepared questions, the participants have 2 questions in order to determine the date of graduation from the primary school and the economic level; there are 8 open-ended questions about common goals / achievements that these programs should bring to the students. The data were analyzed with content analysis technique, contributing to there liability of the study by directly citing the participants' opinions when the findings were expressed. Based on the opinions of the participating participants, the following results were obtained in general: All participants stated that the Life Science course is effective in 'positive' on 'Citizenship Participation, Social Life, Sensitivity to Natural Environment, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Cultural Profit, Health, Economic Life and Career Choice and Professional Life'; but the ratios in each category are different. Participants who had been working on the 1968 Life Science lesson program in primary school stated that this lesson had a positive impact on them; using the expressions in the opposite direction, questions the effects of the constructivist approach, which takes place for thefirst time in the new program, on the students.
