Analysis of relationship between perception of meaning of life and level of psychological resilience

The main purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between "Perception of Meaning of Life" and "Level of Psychological Resilience" of the teachers working in the state high schools in Istanbul province, Uskudar county. In the study, relationship between the "Perception of Meaning of Life" and "Level of Psychological Resilience" and the demographic characteristics (sex, age, income status, marital status, parental status of the child) was investigated. The population studied was consisted of the teachers working in the state high schools in the province of Uskudar in Istanbul in January 2018. The sample of the study consisted of randomly selected 348 teachers with 218 women and 130 men. In addition to the demographic questions, "Adult Psychological Resilience Scale", which its validity and reliability studies were done by Basım and Çetin (2010), was used in order to determine the psychological resilience levels of teachers and "Life Meaning and Awareness Scale" developed by Cüneyd Aydın, Mevlüt Kaya and Hüseyin Peker (2012) was used in order to investigate perception of meaningful life of the teachers. The data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed by SPSS 23 Software, conducting Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis Test and Pearson Correlation analysis statistics. As a result of analyses conducted to investigate the relationship between meaning perceptions and psychological resilience levels of the teachers working in high school, it has been found that there is a significant relationship between the sense of meaning of life and psychological resilience. It was concluded that both scales used in the research had meaningful relationships with their own sub-dimensions and mutually significant relationships with other scales and scale sub-dimensions.
