The application of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems in ready-mixed concrete plants

One of the most important factors for meeting the human being' needs is the quality. Different factors, such as, world population increase, technological changes and improvements, and survival of the producers in competitive markets, make the companies care on quality concept. Otherwise, the future of the companies is threatened. Construction market will survive as the survival of human beings. The legislative regulations increase the quality of the construction market more specifically in the developing countries, like Turkey. One of the most important sub-branches of construction market is ready-mixed concrete market. Especially, the data obtained from the demolished buildings under 1999 Kocaeli and Düzce earthquakes showed that; there are serious problems in the quality of concrete in these buildings. After that, the legislative regulations improved the quality of ready-mixed concrete producers. Independent from the legislative and vocational legislations, a company which targets institutionalization and remaining active in the market needs quality management strategies. It can achieve this by following strategic plans, settings targets, gathering information, measuring and analyzing the data of its sources, employee, clients and products. In this study, in the framework of ISO 9001 quality management systems, the investigation of quality management systems in ready-mixed concrete plants. For this reason, the related issues, such as, documentation system, source management, required products and services, client relationship and control, analysis, assessment and healing activities are investigated for ready-mixed concrete plants.
