Investigation of the effects of technologies used in ready-made clothing industry on productivity

Ready- made clothing sector having an important place in the world trade has to develop and renew itself from the technological aspects in the global textile industry. Apparel industry which has to withstand against conditions of competition affected from fashion, conception, production flexibility, organization, time and product quality. On the other hand, these factors are the pushing forces to construct and renew the sector. In this study, shirt, trousers and jacket companies are selected and processes of classic and modern apparel companies are investigated and these items are produced, one in a classic company and the other in a modern company, to compare the time of manufacturing and productivity of the machines they used. i.e. a shirt was manufactured in a classic company, an another shirt was manufactured in a modern company. Profitability is calculated with time measurement values that are taken from machines and automates. Determination of the productivity has been obtained and compared for different technologies. In conclusion, Cad-Cam systems, modern machines and automates increase production quality and productivity. They have the advantages for workforce and product time. But, small companies do not prefer using these technologies due to the high investment cost.
