A study about handicrafts available in the giftware shops in Ankara

Abstract (EN)
This study has been planned in order not only to determine the effects of the variety and raw materials of handicrafts on the sales of handicrafts but also to find out the situations of the shop owners who are used upIn this study, the literature researching has been made and the varieties and raw materials of handicrafts which are about to disappear or disappeared in Ankara have been asessed and information has been gathered about them.The owners of the handicrafs shops who sell handicrafts as giftware in Ankara compose the core of the study. 229 shop owners have been selected randomly from the findings taken by Ankara Chamber of Commerce among 563 giftware shops. (with 95% of the simple random sampling)The opinion poll and `burnout scale? have been used as the tool of data collection. The scale has been developed by Pines and Aronson (1988) and adapted to Turkish language by Capri (2006). Besides, its validity and reliability test have been made by Capri (2006). This is a scale called `burnout scale? having 21 articles, 17 of which are negative and 4 of which positive articles. Its aims is to determine the use up levels of the shop owners. The findings obtained have been assessed by the method of chi-square, t-test and variance analysis.The study is composed of 5 parts and 147 pages. In the first part, the problem of the study has been handled. The problem of the study is the varieties of handicrafts in the giftware shops in Ankara, the places where they are supplied, their raw materials and the use up levels of the shop owners.In the second part, the literature study has been made about the handicrafts available in Ankara and they have been handled in detail.In the third part, the core of the study, sampling, finding collection and analysis have been explained in detail.In the fourt part, the findinds and comments have been handled.In the fifth part, the findings gathered as a result of the study and the proposal have been revealed out by the researcher. 133 giftware handicrafts made by 7 different raw materials (fiber, wood, stone, soil, leather and narrow branch and stalk) have been determined in the giftware shops in Ankara. It has been found that some of these handicrafts have been made by just one raw material, whereas others have been procuded by two or more raw materials. The use up levels of the shop owners have been also handled.Key words: Handicrafts, souvenir, burnout, raw material
