Abstract (EN)
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is one of the key factors in the etiology of gastric cancer. The carcinogenic effects of nitrosamines in the gastrointestinal tract and the role of pathogenesis of gastric cancer is known. In our study, H. pylori positive cases serum and gastric fluid nitrate, nitrite and nitrosamine levels were investigated after H. pylori eradication therapy. Helicobacter pylori positive 38 cases which taken gastric biopsy specimens during the upper gastrointestinal endoscopic examination were included in the study. Serum samples were collected prior to the endoscopy of the cases and after receiving gastric fluid during endoscopy antral biopsies were performed. For 38 patients Clarithromycin, amoxicillin, lansoprazole inculiding eradication therapy was given for 14 days. Control endoscopy of the case's was performed 2 months later. In all cases, gastric biopsy samples taken before and after H. pylori eradication therapy were scored according to the histopathological clacifications Sydney; H. pylori density, inflammation, activation, metaplasia and atrophy. In our study; nitrate, nitrite and nitrosamine levels were measured in serum and gastric juice, before and after eradication therapy. Also pH was measured in gastric juice. According to the Sydney clacifications H. pylori density, inflammation and activation showed significant reduction after H. pylori eradication treatment. Serum and gastric juice, nitrate, nitrite and nitrosamine levels were significantly decreased after H pylori eradication treatment. As a result, treatment of H. pylori that could be decreased stomach cancer risk while diminishing compounds of nitrate which are accused of gastric cancer etiology was shown trough this study.
