Evaluation of the development process of the proficiency exams of the hematology medical specialization qualification commission with the "RE-AIM" model

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate all of the components with the RE-AIM model, taking into account the planning, structuring, implementation and evaluation processes of the national proficiency exam of the Hematology Medical Specialization Qualification Commission (HEM-TUYEK). RE-AIM (Access, Effectiveness, Acceptance, Implementation, Sustainability) consists of 5 main themes. Method: Question sets were created to evaluate the definition of RE-AIM themes, data sources, evaluation methods, expected gains and aspects that need improvement. Themes were evaluated quantitatively and/or qualitatively. HEM-TUYEK directive, exam candidate information and feedback were taken from the HEM-TUYEK database; The data of the previous semester exams were taken from the THD archive and the website of EHA. Results: The ratio of candidates who took the exam to adult hematology specialists was very low as 1.75%. It is in the same proportion as the number of candidates who participated in previous years and EHA exams. The objectives in the HEM-TUYEK vision, directive and exam directive were achieved. It was an activity embraced by internal and external denominators. There was a 120% increase in exam applications in the second year. There was no canceled component of the exam. It was seen that the effectiveness of the exam was important in terms of sustainability with components such as sufficient effectiveness, acceptance from internal and external stakeholders, and economic support. Conclusion: It was seen that a competency certification suitable for reliable professional activities in the specialty of hematology subspecialty medicine was achieved. It was determined that it is an accessible, achievable, effective, accepted, applicable and sustainable organization determined according to the RE-AIM model.
