Abstract (EN)

In this study, we scanned the bloodstream infections that developed in the last 20 years and the predisposing factors that may be associated with these infections at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine Stem Cell Transplantation Center, which is one of the well-established and experienced institutions of our country. We aimed to reduce the mortality and morbidity of patients by knowing the microbial flora of our hospital and acting early in the revision of antibiotic therapy in case of a possible infection in patients undergoing severe immunosuppressive time after stem cell transplantation. Medical records of 159 pediatric patients who underwent allogeneic stem cell transplantation in the primary hematologic malignancy at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic Stem Cell Transplantation Unit between January 12 2000, and December 3 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Considering the risk factors for the development of bacteremia it has been observed that the use of bone marrow as a source of stem cells reduces the incidence of bacteremia development. In patients who received busulfan-etoposide-cyclophosphamide as a preparatory regimen, the risk of bacteremia observed was higher. It was determined that gram-positive bacteria were seen in the foreground in patients who developed bacteremia as a result of the data obtained from our study. The most common gram-positive bacteria observed was coagulase negative staphylococcus. Seeing the fact that carbapenem resistance has not yet developed in gram-negative microorganisms, which are detected less frequently was pleasing for our unit. With appropriate treatment mortality and morbidity of bloodstream infections can be significantly reduced, and it is of great benefit for each unit to know its own microbial flora.
