Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT The Effect of Training on Hemodialysis Patients on Self Care and Quality of Life Aim: This study has been conducted to determine of the effect of education on hemodialysis treatment on self-care power and quality of life. Material and Method: The study has been carried out in accordance with pre-test—post-test one group-mechanism (semi-experimental).The study has been carried out with the patients receiving dialysis treatment in haemodialysis department Iğdır Public Hospitals between January 2016 and October 2017. The scope of the study has been constituted by 65 (N=65) patients with chronic renal failure who voluntarily accepted to take part in the study in the department of haemodialysis of Iğdır Public Hospital. The paradigm of the study has been constituted by the same 65 patients without creating any other new paradigm. The study has been completed with 55 patients due patients' death, migration and not wanting to fill the questionnaire (N=55). "Question Form", "Power of Self-Care Scale" and "KDQOL-36" have been used in the study as data collection tools and data have been collected before and after the education which has been given with materials for three months. Ethics committee approval and institutional approvals have been taken in order to carry out the study. Numbers, percentages, the least and the most values and average, standard deviation, Will Coxon test, McNemar test, Correlation analysis, T test in independent groups, Variance Analysis, Kruskall Wallis analysis and Mann-Whitney U test have been used in the evaluation of the data. The level of significance has been accepted as p<0.05. Results: It has been determined that those who participated in the study 57 years old and have on 85% 5 kinds, mostly male and married, living in elementary family, illiterate, have less income than the expenses, most of which did not have education about the diseases they have insurance about, are not suitable for the treatment, suitable for the medicine and have salt consumption, have 4 hours per day and 3 sessions of haemodialysis treatment on average. It has been determined that the highest point average of those who participated in the study has been seen in the sub-dimensions of "Symptom/Problem List" and "The Influence of Kidney Disease" in KDQOL-36 Scale pre-test—post-test. When patients' sub-dimension point averages of KDQOL-36 have been compared as pre-test—post-test, it has been seen after the given education that their post-test point averages increased in all the sub-dimensions. pre-test—post-test self-care power point average of the haemodialysis patients who took part in the study were at a medium level and it has been found out that the educational initiatives increased the sub-division point averages of Self-Care Power Scale except the "average point total" and "Psychological state sub-dimension". It has been found out that there is a significant relationship between taking education in accordance with the disease and haemodialysis treatment, conformity to the medicine and the diet, the rates of salt consumption with the average points of Self-Care Power Scale (p<0.05); however, there is not a significant relationship between the gender, marital status, education level, type of family, level of income with the average points of Self-Care Power Scale (p>0.05). Conclusion It has been determined that haemodialysis patients' power self-care who participated in the study are at a medium level and their life qualities are at a medium level; the education given to the patients increased the life quality and their self-care power. It is suggested that studies in accordance with the sustainability of applied educations for the haemodialysis patients and increasing the self-care power should be repeated. Key Words: Haemodialysis, chronic renal failure, life quality, nursing, self-care power.
