The effect of liquid control on life satisfaction in hemodialysis patients

This study was conducted as descriptive to determine the effect of fluid control on life satisfaction in hemodialysis patients. The study was carried out with 300 patients, 155 of them were male and 145 were female who were treated in two special hemodialysis centers. As a data collection tool; personal information form, liquid control scale and life satisfaction scale were used. The data obtained from the research were used in IBM SPSS 24 program; Chi-Square, Student t, One Way Anova and correlation analysis were used. The mean score of the fluid control scale was 50.07 ± 8.05 and the mean of life satisfaction scale was 18.52 ± 8.29. When the mean scores of the subscales of the fluid control scale were examined, the highest behavior (24.88 ± 4.76) was followed by the attitude (13.77 ± 4.41) and the information (11.42 ± 2.15) subsections respectively. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the liquid control scale and the subscale of the liquid control scale. It was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the life satisfaction average score and income level and the life satisfaction of the patients with high income status was also high. It was determined that the knowledge level of the liquid control scale showed a significant negative difference according to the education level, and the knowledge level average score decreased as the education level increased. Another significant result obtained in this study is that the mean scores of the liquid control scale behavior subscale tend to decrease as the income level increases. The effect of fluid control on life satisfaction was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). According to these data; In order to create behavioral change in education, giving priority to female patients, providing economic contribution from social institutions and organizations to the patients and providing personal care and social service support to those who will be interested in their care can be thought to contribute to increasing the life satisfaction of patients.
