Özet (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the effects of water exercises on muscle strength development of pediatric hemophilia patients with articular degenerationThe hemophilia patient subjects (n= 11, 6-24 years, 150,1 ± 23 cm height and 41,9 ± 20 kg weight) were consulted by Cukurova University Medical School?s Hematology Council and all were approved to participate in the study. The anthropometrical measurements of the subjects? lower extremities were bilaterally measuredFor evaluating articular range of motion, a digital goniometer connected to an EMG device was used. First goniometer connected extremity was moved passively and then it was asked from the subject to walk self determined pace. During walking, electrical activity of the muscle groups related to the joint was recorded with surface EMG. The recordings were performed from vastus medialis, biceps femoris, soleus and gastrocnemius medialis. Isometric extension and flexion torques of knee joint muscle groups were measured bilaterally with an isokinetic dynamometer (Cybex, Norm 6000). From the samples taken, whole blood, growth hormone, insulin like growth factor, and testosterone, FSH, LH measurements were performed. The subjects were trained in Cukurova University Özdemir Sabancı pool for one hour/day with 3 times a week for 2 monthsPost exercise muscle force, perimeter and range of motion of the joint were increased. The level of growth hormone was also increased following the swiming. For hemophilia patients water exercises are leading exercise types because of its relatively safe execution
