Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the incivility behaviors that nurses encounter in their work life and the impact of these behaviors on their job performance. Method: The population of this descriptive and relationship-seeking study consisted of 1943 nurses working in 3 hospitals with institutional permission in İstanbul. The sample of the study consists of 407 nurses. The data of the study was collected between September and December 2023. Demographic information form, Nursing Incivility Scale and Individual Job Performance Scale were used in the study. Pearson correlation, liner regression, one-way variance, post hoc analysis and independent t-test were used in data analysis, values at p<0,05 were considered statistically significant. Findings: The total mean score of nurses for incivility was found to be 114,759±28,108 and the general mean of individual job performance was 4,001±0,623. When the correlation analyzes between the nursing incivility scale sub-dimensions and the dimensions of individual job performance were examined a very weak negative relationship was found between the overall total of individual job performance and task dimension and manager incivility. A very weak positive relationship was found between counterproductive work behavior and total incivility and manager incivility. Results: The result of our study showed that nurses were exposed to low levels of incivility in their work life and had above average individual job performance. There was no significant relationship between general incivility and individual job performance in nurses. Significant relationships emerged between incivility and sub-dimensions of individual job performance. Incivility increased counterproductive work behavior at a low level and manager incivility decreased the level of job performance at a low level.
